EMPOWER

EMPOWER project aims at raising technological awareness and information literacy free of charge among the various segments of society, especially those with monetary and societal barriers preventing them from obtaining this type of education and training to achieve their ambitions and participate in national development.

KES has been keen to complete this project, which began in January 2007, through close cooperation with the private and public sectors. This type of collaboration is a model of true cooperation among three important pillars (civil society, private sector, public sector) working together towards effective and sustainable human capital development to benefit citizens and Kuwait. Since its inception, KES has opened 8 CTLCs centers that offer IT and internet training services to various communities in Kuwait free of charge benefiting 275 Kuwaitis so far. KES has reached an agreement with the Center for Family Welfare Department to set up CTLC centers to serve the beneficiaries receiving social assistance and welfare in order to train and develop their skills in the area of technology, which helps them to develop their micro enterprises and/ or obtaining jobs.

EMPOWER project in collaboration with Microsoft company uses the Arabic curriculum of "Unlimited Potential" to train candidates. The UP curriculum developed by Microsoft focuses on providing basic computer skills, utilization of Microsoft Office program, and Internet.  The training course period is for two months at 120 hours per course.

EMPOWER project is considered to be pioneer in spreading information technology literacy and awareness to reach digital integration at the community level free of charge with true partnership with the public and private institutions.
